The Tree of Life represents the afterlife, and connection between the earth and heaven. Here, this piece is handwoven on an ancient loom with the ancestral Ukrainian technique of lizhykarstvo, passed down from mother to daughter in the Carpathians, a mountainous region of Ukraine. Loosely woven stitching recalls the feeling of soft, crumbly soil. The nature of the tapestry and of earth herself intersect in a weaving process guided by nature. Made in Ukraine.
